Safed, Tiberias and mount Meron

This route goes through Hertzliya and Natanya to the Mediterranean, turning back to the Armageddon plain or Tel Megiddo, which is a hill created by people activity at the same place for a long time and played an important role in cross-country trading in the early periods. Then we will see the city of Megiddo, which was an important city in the ancient times.
Then we will drive to Tiberias, named so after the Emperor Tiberius and situated on the Sea of Galilee. It was established by Herod Antipas, the son of Herod the Great, was under authority of different cultures and became a Holy site for Jews due to its history. There are graves of the sages, located here.
The first is Rabbi Meir Baal HaNes who, as the traditions say, made miracles. His tomb is a popular place for pilgrims. Ruined in the earthquake seven centuries ago, it was rebuilt in 1867, using the original materials. Nowadays you can see it afar and it amazes with crystal blue and white colors. Nearby there is also a little market with different religious things.
The other is Rabbi Moshe Ben Maimon (Rambam) - an outstanding philosopher, who learned the Aristotle and Muslim philosophic writings and tried to link Torah with their ideas.  Rambam is the author of the fourteen books of the Mishnah Torah and the book called “The Guide for the Perplexed”, which had a great influence for the middle-age philosophers.
Then we will move to Safed, which is the highest city in Israel, where will look around the ancient part of the city, step at the Ari HaKodosh synagogue, explore the Isaac Luria Visitor Center and walk through the Artists Quarter, where many street artists show their paintings and arts.
The end of our tour will be at Mt Meron. Here we can find a burial place of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai (Rashbi). He is famous for the Zohar writing, which is the major book of the Kabbalah movement. In his death anniversary day, Jewish people celebrate Lag B'Omer, lighting the fires, visiting his tomb and doing other traditional things.
